Doing it.

Alright friends.

I'm leaving xangaland.

This way, I won't get confused that messages on here come to my email box as 'xanga weblog'. Last time I got one (it was the one from you, Suzanne, as you know) I thought it said 'shahngga wuhblong', some obscure chinese person's name...

egads.

Please direct your comments to my much more fengxue-friendly site, www.sarahtkhrt.blogspot.com which also has more pictures!

I love and miss you too, Colleen. But I hope to see you in the next couple days! Please call me! Otherwise.

Well.

You won't see me.

I won't see you.

Sad day.

Would you do it for my birthday?

how's that for a guilt trip

Sorry for the change again, Amber. I just can't seem to settle down. Itchy feet, I guess!

See y'all at blogger.

Been a week

Since all these books came in, and where am I? I only just started one of them. Xinran's The Good Women of China is turning out to be a gem I didn't know I had. It's going to be hard to sleep tonight, knowing all those stories are right there next to me..

books.

I guess books are my hobby. Knitting/crochet(-ing just seems wrong to see) is almost, but really, how often do I do that? And it's not for the pure pleasure of it. Although that task is enjoyable, it still doesn't come too easily to the fingers, and it's an expensive hobby. Maybe I just need to know where to shop, though.

Reading, on the other hand, I usually do for the pure pleasure for it. And the use of books is so versatile! Books can hold a shelf up; raise the level of a lamp; make one appear sophisticated (or the opposite, depending upon the book-choice); teach a bajillion things, thereby opening worlds barely dreamt of (both real and unreal, Middle-Earth, Tortallan, or otherwise); provide an escape. I could go on forever in that vein. Do you know I feel more comfortable when books tower around me? That's why I love Powell's so much. The focus in that store, for the most (and I do mean most) part, is merely books. Making as much space as possible for people to enjoy books...but I don't really think heaven is going to be a fabulous bookstore. As much as I love them. There are better things than books. That's a bit painful to admit.

Now, books could be an expensive hobby - if I bought all I read. But there is this wonderful system the public libraries have come up with, called inter-library loan. Any book (almost) in the state of Michigan (for michiganders) can be found in MeL. The biggest problem I have with MeL, though, is that it's so easy to go hogwild. Yep. We get MeL-transported books twice a week here in Cedarville, and I think I'm going to end up getting all 20 of the books on my list at the same time.

This is worse than college. At least I don't end up being so enthusiastic about each book once they arrive. And some of these will be just good enough for a glance-over. And since we're not in college anymore, I can just change my mind about what to read...Here's what I'll be reading shortly:

Oh what a night.

Wouldn't you know that my mother's wedding rings don't fit any but my pinkies?
Good thing I won't have to really worry about that for awhile.

And I just learned tonight that the diamond was found by my great-grandmother...in a hanky. She didn't know where it came from. But it's genuine.

Weird.

Better go check out my handkerchiefs...

I'd really like my job better if each day weren't like an episode of the office.
